360 Flip Skate Shelter 2007/08
Site: Alexandra Palace Skate park, London N22
Skaters... This project began as a discussion about user groups, communities and various sub-groups and how they fit into the larger scheme of things... with eventual focus on the skateboarding community.
We started investigating everything from social behaviour, perception to movement through the urban landscape (on a skateboard) and how this particular place of 'habitat' can be made more user friendly, exciting and innovative, for the user through design ideas for a Skate Shelter. In this case we worked on site at Alexandra Palace (Ally Pally) and interacted with the skaters there. We contacted the local council (Haringey Council) and received some helpful information for the initial research stages.
Before the skate shelter was initiated as an actual design process - a short site analysis project was set - starting with the minute details of every-day 'sites', through to the actual site at Alexandra Palace. Initial design process also involved diary writing and recording of the analysis.
